Free tool for sim customization
The Sims 2 Body Shop is a free-to-use game utility that was originally included with its base game. This customization tool lets you change the appearance and features of your titular characters. It has various game modes, such as the Create Parts mode where you start with a base template and experiment on your look.
While originally a part of the base game, The Sims 2 Body Shop is available as a separate, standalone download. Still, it does not automatically unlock hidden content from The Sims 2, such as unique NPC costumes or secret skin tones.
Change your appearance in-game
The Sims 2 Body Shop was formerly known as CaSIE, short for Create-a-Sim Independent Editor. This tool allows you to customize your sim and creating custom content for your in-game characters. It comes with a Create a Sim feature that allows you to import your custom character into The Sims 2. It also supported an online sharing platform, The Sims 2 Exchange, although it was already shut down.
Generally, using this tool makes it easy to unlock all customization options available in the game. Some exceptions, however, include non-player content such as NPC costumes and the alien features. Additionally, the game utility also supports the deletion of default designs and assets through the Build Sims mode, although some players have reported permanently disabling or removing the files from the base game.
Also, this app is the original Body Shop that was included with the base game. There are other versions of the app that comes with each expansion pack released, which also contains and supports additional themes and costume options. Other than this minor inconvenience, the app is well-optimized and runs well for all versions of the game, making it a valuable add-on.
A useful tool with diminished functionality
While The Sims 2 was initially released back in 2004, a lot of people still play, making The Sims 2 Body Shop a non-negotiable requirement. Not only does it make character customization easier, but it also allows you to create your own design and send them to the game for you to enjoy. While some features have become obsolete with time, it’s still worth having it with the base game.
